York City came to his call, and joined them for a fee of £50,000 on March 1st 2000.

[/img] The latest news, is that Alan broke his arm in last Tuesday nights 1-0 defeat against Sheffield United in the Carling Cup. It came when he dived in to clear the ball away from striker Nicky Law. Despite his injury Alan continued on for a further three minutes. Scans later revealed the bad news about the break and will face about three months out and should return to play in December 06. I'm sure I'm with everyone here, as we convey our thoughts to Alan and wish him a speedy recovery.

ALAN FETTIS( updated February 2010) Alan Fettis is currently the Academy goalkeeping coach at Sunderland Athletic after leaving Cheltenham Town in July 2009. He is also the goalkeeping coach for the Northern Ireland B International side. Since his first coaching appointment at Derby County, Alan was appointed goalkeeping coach at Cheltenham Town in 2008, and was also given the role of chief scout at the club. Fettis made the move to Wearside after enduring a turbulent year with Cheltenham when as one stage he was released because of the club's money troubles. The then Cheltenham manager, Martin Allen, commented, " I was conscious that a contract hadn't been agreed because we've wanted to sort it out all summer. "He is very good and it wasn't a surprise when I took the call. He's done excellently with Scott Brown." Fettis snapped up the opportunity to further his career with the Premiership side, where he is working with Academy Manager Ged McNamee and his assistant Kevin Ball. Speaking about the move, Fettis stated, He told the club's official website: " I'm very excited. It's a wonderful place to work - you get that just from driving through the gates and seeing the facilities and meeting the staff." " The youth team did really well last year and so did the reserves, and with the first-team staying in the Premier League, it just feels like a fabulous place to be at the moment. It's exciting times for the club," added Alan. Just before Alan's move to Sunderland, Nigel Worthington promoted Fettis to the Northern Ireland B International set-up. He had previously been the coach for the Northern Ireland Under-18 squad and his first game to prepare for was against Scotland.
