NEW AWAY SHIRT RELEASED.
THE new Northern Ireland away shirt which celebrates the 25th anniversary win over Spain in the 1982 World Cup was officially last week.
“The new shirt has been designed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Northern Ireland’s win over Spain in the 1982 World Cup – the shirt is a slight variation on the original to help give it a modern look and feel,” explained Geoff Wilson, the IFA’s Head of Marketing and Communications. “Shorts and socks are also available to match the away shirt.
Steve Marsters Sports Sponsorship Director for JJB added: “JJB, Umbro and the Irish Football Association are delighted with the new away anniversary shirt which takes inspiration from the 1982 shirt that was so synonymous during the World Cup campaign in Spain.
“The shirt which is classical in design is white and has green shorts and green socks, the main features of the shirt are the striped green and navy blue vertical detail which runs through the main body both front and reverse. The fabric is the latest technology that Umbro has developed - the Umbro branding running down either sleeve plays an important part to the overall retro feel to the contemporary design.”
The shirt will be worn for the first time when Northern Ireland play Latvia in the Skonto Stadium in Latvia on September 8.

I managed to get mine on the Friday evening when it was released. Enniskillen was sold out of all adult tops that evening, so hopefully this will lead to another huge sale of Northern Ireland tops (or as Wes would say Norn Iron 'taps').
