Blackburn striker El-Hadji Diouf could be jailed for two years after being accused of assaulting a woman in a late-night casino brawl.

The Senegal international has been charged with wounding with intent amid claims he was involved in the fight back in his homeland.

Local woman Khady Sy claims the 29-year-old and his pro-wrestler bodyguard Cheik Sadibou Boye assaulted her at the exclusive Casino du Cap Vert at Almadies in June last year.

According to the Daily Express, Diouf appeared in court in Senegal last Friday while on a visit back home for a charity event.
He faces a two-year prison sentence if the case comes to trial at Dakar's district court.

Blackburn officials said they did not know anything about the court appearance.

A club spokesman told the Daily Star: "He was over there at the weekend on the invitation of the Senegalese president for a charity event."

Diouf is no stranger to controversy and was accused of attacking Aicha Ba, ex-wife of his former international and club team-mate Khalilou Fadiga, in 2006. Three years earlier, he pleaded guilty to assault after spitting at Celtic fans.

never was a fan of him,especially after his ignorance when we went to the burnley game back in october.he is too hot and cold on the field but he could get goals that we terribly need between now and end of the season
